Alpha Accommodation

Host Family Accommodation
Accommodation is arranged with carefully selected and monitored host families which provide single room accommodation, breakfast and evening dinner Monday to Friday; all meals at week-ends and light laundry service.

Most host families live in the suburbs with students travelling to and from the college by bus or train. Only one student of each nationality is placed in a family unless students request and alternative arrangement.


Hotel / Hostel Accommodation
Hotel, guest-house or hostel accommodation can be arranged if required.

Alpha College is located in the heart of the City Centre and as such has many excellent hotels and hostels within 5 - 10 minutes walk of the school.

Accommodation is arranged through the college and students must settle the payment themselves.

Prices for various hotel / hostel accommodation are very seasonal and available upon request.


Residential Accommodation
Alpha College can arrange residential accommodation in Broadstone Student  Self-Catering Accommodation from June 28th 2009 until August 29th 2009.  We will also have some availability in the same Residence for the period 15 – 28th June.

Broadstone Student Self Catering Accommodation is a prestigious new development of 21 self-catering apartments designed and purpose built for student living. Broadstone consists of a selection of 3, 4 & 5 bedroom apartments all ensuite with spacious living and kitchen areas.  All apartments are fully fitted and furnished to a high standard catering to all student needs and delivered by a friendly and efficient management team.  Broadstone is a contemporary style building near city centre and near Alpha College. It is about a 10 minute walk from Alpha and 10-15 minute walk from city centre.The building is fully secure with authorised access only.

The kitchens are fully equipped with all the essentials for student living.  Broadstone offers students plenty of recreational areas, including two student lounges, a seminar room, reading room, roof deck, pool tables and vending machines.  Public transport is available directly outside the complex.

Costs

The cost is €185 per week for a single room;  €150 per person, per week, for a twin room.

In addition students need to pay a deposit of €100 to cover any possible damage or loss of keys.  This deposit is made up of €30 for lost keys and €70 for damage.  Deposits are refunded when rooms are vacated.

Minimum age

Only students of 18 years or older may book this self-catering option.

  • Limited car park spaces available (additional charge applies)

Security

  • Broadstone and its surrounds are monitored by CCTV cameras which record activity inside and outside, 24 hours a day on to  a computer hard disk with instant retrieval available, providing a safe and pleasant living environment


Housekeeping

  • A regular cleaning service is provided to all common areas, entrance, stairwells and hallways of the building.
  • Bed linen is changed once per week
  • Apartments are cleaned once per week
  • Weekly refuse collection

Meals

  • Accommodation is offered on a self-catering basis.
  • All apartments are fully furnished and equipped for self-catering use.

Laundry and Bed Linen

  • Bed Linen is provided but students should bring their own towels.
  • Bed linen is changed once per week 
  • Mattress protectors are provided for health and hygiene purposes. 
  • A self-service, pay as you go, laundry service in available in the building at an extra cost.

Smoking

  • Smoking is strictly forbidden in all apartments and all areas of the Residence.

  • Each apartment contains either 3, 4 or 5 bedrooms, all ensuite with a shared living and dining area. The rooms are all fitted out to a high standard and each apartment has been built for comfort with spacious bedrooms and living areas. Every student has his or her own bedroom with an ensuite.

Weekly rate includes - heating, electricity, wireless internet, TV & DVD, refuse collection, cleaning and weekly linen change.
 
Terms & Conditions of Occupancy

  • Each student is obliged to follow the Rules and Regulations.
  • Students are responsible for the behaviour of their guests while on the premises.
  • All visitors are required to leave the building by 11.00pm and there is a ‘no noise’ policy between 12:00 midnight and 7:00am.
  • Occupants are responsible for insurance cover on their own contents.

  • Please note, students must book a minimum of 2 weeks accommodation in the residence.

 

 

College News

Last weekend saw the beginning of the 6 Nations Rugby Tournament with the first Irish match held in Croke Park, Dublin, agaisnt France.
The Ladies' version of the tournament also started last weekend and followed the same pattern, so that the Irish Female Team was meeting the French Female Team.

Two of Alpha College's French students, Julia and Anne-Sophie, took it on to go and support their team in Ashbourne, Co.Meath, about 20km north of Dublin.
