Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Report 2013 – World Economic Forum

Stephen ShorttBlog

World_economic_forum_logoThe World Economic Forum produced a report before the summer about the International Travel and Tourism industry.

The 481 page document is very detailed with lots of interesting data but obviously, here in Alpha College, we were most interested in how Ireland performed in some key areas and we did pretty well!

For Customer Service, Quality of Natural Environment and Safety & Security we were in the top 15 countries (out of the 140 included in the report).

Ireland’s competitiveness improved also – going from 21st to 19th position globally and up to 12th in Europe.

The two areas that interest us the most, however are the Quality of the Educational System and how Welcoming of Foreign Visitors we are are as a nation.

In both of these categories, Ireland is proudly listed in the top 10 countries around the world!

To read the report yourself, you can download it from the World Economic Forum website: http://www3.weforum.org/docs/WEF_TT_Competitiveness_Report_2013.pdf

Do you agree with these findings?  I’d love to hear your thoughts on how Ireland (and of course Alpha College) can improve and put us even further up the ranking tables in the next report.
