Our Twin English Centre Dublin (Formerly Alpha College of English) Young Learners programme is designed to support students aged 16 – 20 who study with us here in Dublin.
Participants join our General English classes – at their level – for 18.3 hours (Standard), 22.5 hours (Intensive) or 26.6 hours (Super Intensive) per week.
After class, students have the freedom to either join our regular teacher-led excursions or explore the city on their own in the afternoon before returning to their host families for dinner.
In the evenings, most students of this age find it more difficult to find things to do as they are not allowed in pubs or similar venues so we have created a specialised programme which is lead by our Twin Young Adults coordinator.
The programme is offered in units of 2 weeks.
International classes for this programme are provided at A2, B1 & B2 levels.
If requested, closed group classes at other levels for this age group can be provided and the students can join the other similar aged students for the afternoons.
Students have morning classes classes from 9am - 1pm Monday to Friday (with a short coffee break). The maximum class size for this programme is 14.
Twin English Centre Dublin provides a leader/teacher to accompany these students on all elements of the social/cultural programme organised by the college.
A 2 week programme includes two full day excursions, optional afternoon excursions and specific evening activities.
While the level of supervision may be less intense than in a traditional junior school students have the guidance and support of their leader at all times, especially in the evenings.
Students join Twin English Centre Dublin adult students for the full day excursion outside of Dublin by private coach but they are accompanied by their own dedicated leader/teacher.
Accommodation is provided by Twin host families who provide half board during the week and full board on weekends.
Light lunch with the family or packed lunch is provided at weekends.
On Sundays, students are free to explore the city with their friends and/or go shopping.
Students have access to free WiFi and computers in the school to check their emails or social networks. Learning materials, use of text book, initial placement test and end of course Certificate are included in the programme.
