Course Objective

The objective of the programme is to help students develop the language skills and fluency to compile and make a presentation on the places they have visited and the people they have met.  Using the vocabulary and knowledge they have acquired during the week they will have the confidence to  make a powerpoint (or similar) presentation on their last Friday outlining their activities during the week.

Course Format

Students will meet in the classroom each morning at 09.00 and with their teacher they will review the work of the previous day; work on the vocabulary they will need for the current day; what they will visit and its historical or cultural relevance; the worksheets they will need to complete during the day and the roles each of the students will assume in the preparation of their presentation, i.e. who will be note-takers, interviewers, still camera operators on that day

With their teacher they leave the school at 11 and commence their fieldwork in city centre. A lunch allowance has been included in the fee so that students can take their lunch in a restaurant near their location on a particular day.

On Friday morning the first class from 09.00 – 11.00 will be the final preparation for their presentation and their actual presentations will be made from 11 – 13.00.  The presentations could be filmed if everybody agrees.  The presentation will be in the form of slides.  The students will work in small groups to prepare the slides but each student must make a verbal contribution to the presentation of the project

Accommodation

Family accommodation, twin room, half board for students and single room, half board for 1 accompanying teacher;  with €10 cash per student and teacher per day for lunches in city centre, near visit location of the day.
